The Offshore Announcements server farm is located at Foreshore in Jersey (Channel Islands) with additional remote servers in the USA, United Kingdom, Australia and Asia to ensure that the latest news, information and announcements are captured and delivered to your staff as quickly as possible.
Foreshore was chosen as our Internet Service Provider because it is an international class internet communications company, which is based in Jersey, and has been operating in the Channel Islands since 2000, and internationally since 2001. It has been the chosen provider for a number of the best known international banks and some of the largest European internet retailers.
Our servers are located in Foreshore’s primary offshore datacentre that is housed in a purpose built facility on the outskirts of St Helier, with a second facility located several miles away.
The Offshore Announcements service sits in the primary datacentre and uses the communications fibres laid to France by the Jersey Electricity Company, and is in close proximity to Jersey Telecom for other circuits. This provides for the most resilient communications design whilst providing the optimal communication speed. The two datacentres are linked by diverse fibre and wireless connections, creating one logical network.
In the unlikely event of a power failure Foreshore has backup power generation available. This consists of two quick-start Gas Turbine Generators with a total output capacity of approximately 45 MW. Utilising locally stored Gas oil (or light fuel oil) there is an endurance of 10 to 20 days depending on the load being supplied. This ensures that the Offshore Announcements service is available at all times.
The security of the Offshore Announcements equipment is of paramount importance and the Foreshore facility is protected at its perimeter, and within the general office area, by proximity card access.
Access to the Offshore Announcements equipment can only be achieved by proximity card and PIN numbers, and a limited number of NW Consulting staff having direct access to the servers. In addition, all areas within the datacentre are monitored by CCTV cameras, 24x7x365.
By using the twin offshore datacentre design provided by Foreshore, which is unique in the offshore world, Offshore Announcements equipment has two points of presence for traffic to and from the datacentre. The two datacentres are on the same logical network, providing the ultimate in resilience and reliability to our clients.
By using Foreshore as our primary Internet Service Provider we ensure that the Offshore Announcements service is available, and fast, wherever your organistion is located.
